Medical Skin Peels
Uncover new, fresher and brighter skin
Medical skin peels can be very effective in the rejuvenation of the entire face and also the neck area, chest area in ladies (décolletage) and hands.
They are used to treat aging and photodamage of skin, to improve lines and wrinkles, to firm up the skin, to improve problems of abnormal pigmentation and other abnormalities caused by the sun and to give the skin a younger and fresher appearance.
They are also effective treatments for acne and can be very useful when more conventional treatments have failed to adequately control this condition.
Peels used within a medical environment are far more effective than those that may be offered at salons, as these are not really true peels at all. A general rule is that the deeper the peel, the longer the recovery period but the more effective are the results.
Skin peeling has been used since the days of ancient Egypt to rejuvenate skin and the central principle is to remove skin layers to renew the outer surface layer of cells and to increase the activity of the collagen producing (fibroblast) cells in the underlying supporting layer.
So keen is your skin to regenerate that it does so without replicating some of the added extras it has developed during its lifetime, such as the lines, blotches and dark spots. Taking off the outer layers, in essence, wipes out a generation of skin cells with UV-damaged memories.

Gentle Peeling - no downtime
Gentle (superficial) peels are based on glycolic acid derived from sugar cane and are designed to smooth out the irregularities in the outer layer of the skin (epidermis).
They stimulate growth of new skin cells and collagen by loosening the ‘glue’ that holds the dead cells on the skin's surface.
Superficial peels are performed every two to three weeks and leave the skin just a little dry and flaky for the following three days. Moisturiser can be applied as often as required and make up can be worn if necessary.
More than one peel is required to achieve results and we suggest a course of at least six treatments during which you will see a gradual improvement. We will advise and supply the correct products to maximise the benefits.
Best results in terms of skin texture and pore size will be seen after twelve weeks. Pigmentation problems also improve with gentle peeling but may take a full year to fade. Our experience is that Amelan® treatment is the most rapid and effective solution for all pigmentation problems.
Superficial, gentle, peeling is recommended for early signs of sun damage and for boosting the complexion; fine lines, open pores, rough, slightly thickened skin, early pigmentation problems and freckles. They are also helpful in the treatment of acne.
A course of superficial peels can be repeated once or twice a year to keep your skin in optimal condition and to protect against skin aging.
Superficial peels are also ideal to combine with mesotherapy treatment for even greater skin rejuvenation effects and prevention of skin aging.

Light and Medium Depth Peels
TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peels can penetrate deeper into the skin and the depth of penetration can be varied according to your needs.
TCA - Light
Light TCA peels are beneficial for acne and signs of photo-damage: a dry, thickened outer skin surface, rough dull complexion, fine wrinkles and ‘age’ spots.
During the procedure a warm sensation is felt on the skin, which may last for a few minutes.
Over the next few days the skin will peel but this should not disrupt your normal lifestyle. No prior skin preparation is needed; however you will need to apply a moisturiser frequently post procedure.
A course of up to four peels carried out every one to two weeks is recommended to achieve the best results, often equivalent to a medium depth TCA peel.
TCA - Medium
Medium TCA peels are especially suitable for thickened sun-damaged skin with deeper wrinkles and irregular pigmentation.
During the procedure a burning or stinging sensation may be experienced and this is relieved by a fan.
Over the next few days the skin goes red then becomes brown and crusty, peeling at about day four or five and revealing newer skin underneath. The skin takes up to ten days to recover and to show the benefit of the treatment, which then continues for up to a further six months.
A single peel is usually all that is required although this can be repeated whenever necessary.
The final results of TCA peels will be seen over a period of two to six months post-treatment, during which time the skin will continue to produce new collagen and elastic fibres and as a result, will become more youthful in structure, firmer and more elastic.
TCA Peeling can be repeated every one to two years as an effective anti-aging treatment.
