Injectable Dermal Fillers

For lines, lips, volume and folds

Simply injecting a ‘filler’ into lines, wrinkles and hollows that we dislike gives us an immediate boost.

In one or two short treatments nose to mouth lines, marionette lines (lines below the mouth corners), cheek lines, lines around the mouth and frown lines can often be erased.

Lips can be restored to their former shape and size and given a totally natural look and feel. Lipstick lines can be treated redefining the lip margin.

There are many products available but we offer only those that we believe to be the best in terms of proven safety, longevity and natural results. Moreover,  if the correct types of products are used, this will have natural collagen building long-term effects.

We exclusively use Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, such as Restylane, Perlane, Revanesse, Teosyl, Visagel and Juvederm.

These are the most popular and the most widely used dermal fillers in the world. They have an excellent safety record and are not made from any animal or human derivatives. They do not need an allergy test and can be administered on the first visit.

Furthermore, if there is ever a problem after treatment, they are fully reversible and can be rapidly and completely dissolved with a simple injection of a harmless enzyme. This is NOT the case with any other type of dermal filler material and you should be fully aware of this before deciding to have treatment elsewhere with any other product.

HA fillers stimulate natural collagen production and are slowly and gradually broken down to water within the skin. They give excellent natural results which usually last for at least six to twelve months.

If a further treatment is undertaken before the results of a previous treatment have completely disappeared, the results will be maintained and less product is often required in order to obtain the same results.

Longer lasting fillers have been available for some time but we steadfastly refuse to use any of them for the following important reason:

Once injected they cannot be dissolved or removed from the skin without surgery. There have been many reports of serious and unpleasant allergies to such products, sometimes lasting for several months or years. We will therefore only use products that we are certain are safe for our patients.

Swelling

All treatments tend to cause some initial swelling which normally subsides within a few hours. Very rarely the swelling may persist for a full 24 hours, a fact to remember when planning treatment.

Bruising

Bruising is not often a major problem but injections into the skin may cause some bruising. The risk of this is greater in those taking regular aspirin or other blood thinning treatments. Again this needs to be borne in mind when planning treatment. Both swelling and bruising can be minimised by application of a cool pack after treatment.

Cold sores
If you would like us to treat your lips or the area around your mouth with a dermal filler and you have had cold sores in the past, we will recommend that you take Aciclovir immediately after the treatment and for five days afterwards. We stock these tablets and can add the cost (approximately £10) on to your final invoice. Alternatively, we can issue a private prescription and they can be obtained from a pharmacy.
