Botox can be very effectively used to control unwanted muscle habits and facial expression lines such as frowning, crow's feet and forehead lines etc. The effects appear gradually over the first few days following treatment and the maximum effect is reached after about two weeks.
The results of treatment should last for at least 3 to 4 months. This figure is variable and some people only need Botox every 6 to 12 months.
Theoretically, the need for Botox should decrease with time as the habit causing the lines (e.g. frowning) breaks down. Such facial habits are often subconscious, but with repeated Botox treatment, the unwanted habit is usually slow to return.
Too frequent use of Botox should be discouraged and one treatment about every 3 to 6 months should be enough.
Botox also gives a youthful lift to the eyebrows and upper part of the face and conveys a sense of calmness in the individual. It softens frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet and frequently relieves tension headaches and migraines.

A perfect treatment with Botox will result in completely natural facial expression and facial movements after treatment. No one should ever guess that you have had a botox treatment and the ‘frozen’ or ‘startled’ look that we sometimes see or read about is simply a result of excessive dosage and/or incorrect technique.
Botox is a prescription drug and should therefore be prescribed by a medical doctor trained in its cosmetic use. Each patient should be assessed individually prior to the first treatment, so that the correct dosage and positioning of injections can be determined for each patient.
Unfortunately, due to failure of enforcement of regulations regarding the use of prescription drugs, it has sometimes fallen into the wrong hands and is sometimes used by persons without adequate training and medical supervision.
With such unprofessional use, unwanted effects have sometimes occurred and this has tarnished the reputation of and frightened many people away from what is one of the safest, most successful and most effective cosmetic medical treatments available.
Detailed medical knowledge of the facial muscles, knowledge and experience of dosage requirements, careful assessment of the face to be treated and appreciation of the limits of the technique will reduce the risk of any side effects to almost zero.
The treated area may be a bit red for half an hour and very rarely there may be a small bruise. Make-up can be applied immediately after treatment.

Botox
Relaxes, softens and lifts.
The most popular cosmetic treatment in the UK.
Botox has revolutionised the treatment of lines of the upper part of the face. It is a muscle relaxing medicine used originally for the treatment of muscular twitches, spasms and squints. For these conditions, large doses have been used safely and effectively for over 25 years.
Despite its name, the doses that we use are not in the slightest bit toxic. A toxic dose would actually need to be several hundred times higher than the dose that is ever used for a cosmetic treatment. Compare this with paracetamol, which most of us take without thinking, where the toxic dose is only about five times higher than the maximum recommended daily dose.
